Futuristica

A while ago I redesigned the logo for the record label Futuristica Music. At the time, I forgot to post about it, however, thanks to Futuristica themselves being on the ball this post rectifies that.

You see, Futuristica head-honcho Simon Skolfield has just sent me these images of the merchandise he has recently had produced (I am loving the white-on-black tee) and that made me realise I had never posted about the logo.

If you want one of the tees yourself, Futuristica have teamed up with 16 Blocks and it can be yours for £20.

Princess Victoria newsletter

A recent job which entailed bringing the Princess Victoria email newsletter in line with the rest of the current branding.

This just in…

At the recent (and inaugural) Jazz Meet Record Fair I brought some of the printed A3 posters along to sell and today I received this lovely photo from one satisfied customer. It’s nice seeing them framed and in what looks like an impressive record room.

All the posters are for sale to all via the Made In Earnest Etsy shop. Although we only do a very limited print run of 25 each month, so get them while stocks last. They will not be reprinted.

A new venue means a new look

After many, many years at the same venue The Fickle Formula is moving this month so we decided this was reason enough to update the look. So, a new look to go with a new venue but, you will notice, ‘same fickle format’.

The Jazz Meet meets John Peter Raven

April 1st would have been Gil Scott-Heron’s birthday and to celebrate his life and mourn his passing The Jazz Meet are doing a special birthday tribute to the great man on March 31st. I’ve collaborated with illustrator John Peter Raven for the poster.

SPILL: On Contact

The 2013 edition of SPILL Festival of Performance is in April and has been ‘curated around notions of contact and explores issues of connection, exchange and advocacy. In the mix are uncompromising performances, radical live events, participatory interventions, installation, film and discussions’.

The Festival is taking place at a range of venues across London including the Barbican, National Theatre Studio, Soho Theatre, Toynbee Studios and the Whitechapel Gallery.

This year the brochure is 165mm x 120mm and the image above shows the front and back cover including the spine, however you can get to see the brochure, in full, online this year here. Once I have the printed brochure back from the printers I will get it photographed properly and up online.

Illusions

Love and death, loyalty and betrayal, truth and fiction: do we ever really know whether we are truly loved? Well, do we? Actors Touring Company might just have an answer with their presentation of Illusions by Ivan Viripaev. The Guardian review said ‘It’s like a bedtime story gone awry’.

The show is on now (‘the perfect Valentine’s exploration of the nature of true love’) and if you go you might just see these posters I designed in and around the venues.

Kingdom Kickboxing

New identity and logotype for Kent-based Kingdom Kickboxing. It is a new company so hopefully the identity will help it grow and develop.

Take the stage

I have started to do the occasional piece of work for The Stage and I thought I would post up the latest flyer for The Stage Castings which has recently gone to print. It is a quite straightforward two-sided DL leaflet (both sides shown below), but what made it straightforward was the excellent Brand Guidelines that exist. I’m not sure who created it originally, but the 89 page pdf is clear, concise (despite it’s size) and easy to follow, while still giving enough leeway so as not to stifle creativity. If only all brand guidelines were the same…

A fickle half century

Here it is – the 50th poster I’ve done for the musical institution that is The Fickle Formula.

To celebrate this milestone I thought I would put up my five favourite designs out of the fifty. I’ve put them up in date order (newest to oldest) as I couldn’t decide which was my actual favourite of the fifty and that seemed like a good cop out.

Hope you like them as much as I do.
