On the right track

The latest issue of The Victorian magazine – issue 39 – is at the printers and will be out soon. This issue is in fact the twentieth issue Made In Earnest has designed and, even if I say so myself, it is looking good.

The modernist shop

I am proud and honoured to stay I have a selection of The Jazz Meet posters on sale at the moment at a pop-up shop in Manchester. The Manchester Modernist Society, publishers of the modernist magazine, have launched a modernist pop-up shop at 142 Chapel Street, Salford M3 6AF (close to Salford central Station and the Kings [...]

Burghley in motion

One of my regular clients, Acland Burghley School, has an annual Dance Show for which I do the invite and the poster. This year’s title is Burghley In Motion and the show takes place at the end of January at the Bloomsbury Theatre.

The Remix EP

Following on from the recent Paul White post, it seems right to mention the design and release of the new Remix EP. The artwork has the same basic design and look as the album, but it has been ‘remixed’. Simple, but hopefully effective.

V&A Members brochure

Some time ago I was asked to do a one-off job for the V&A Museum and this was the result; a 16pp brochure for a Members trip to Istanbul to celebrate the opening of Jameel Gallery of Islamic Art within the V&A Collection. I must say it was a joy to work for the V&A, [...]

Rapping With Paul White

The new album from Paul White is all set to be released, which means the artwork is finished and I must say I am proud of it and can’t wait to see it printed. Once I get my copies I’ll get this and the other recent One-Handed releases properly photographed and up into the portfolio [...]

SPILL: On Agency

As the 2011 SPILL Festival has just finished this seems like an appropriate time to post about SPILL: On Agency, a book of writing, thinking and conversation on and around the SPILL Festival of Performance which I designed last year. The book (114 pages of 185mm x 235mm), edited by Robert Pacitti and Sheila Ghelani, [...]

Historic House design tweaks

I’ve been the designer of Historic House magazine for the Historic House Association since 2002 and during those years the magazine has been gradually tweaked and amended and hopefully improved. The latest design alterations came about in time for the Spring 2011 issue and have been received favourably. The Summer 2011 issue is in production [...]

A sneak preview..

.. of the new ‘anti-branding’. More to come as and when I have them, but this is just a sneak peak of the soft proofing (wrinkles and all) and even though it isn’t on the 540gsm GF Smith stock I gotta say I am liking the Bodini in that red.

An award winning design

Last summer I was involved in a very interesting design project for the AMOS album ‘Showtime’. It was billed as an ’unique and international music and art project’ where the new album was released on vinyl with blank white covers. These were then sent to more than 400 visual artists from all over the world who created [...]
