Historic House: restoration

It’s been a long time since I posted anything about Historic House magazine, but the Autumn 2015 issue is out now and the cover features a fabulous image of the restoration of St Giles House. Usually the magazine would have an ‘after’ image on the cover, but I thought this was just too interesting and […]

Another of our ongoing projects is the design for the annual Acland Burghley Visual Arts exhibition. Every year a students work is chosen to feature on both the poster and the invite that is sent out. Below is both the 2105 and 2014 posters.

The Echo

One of the ongoing projects we have is the design of The Echo newsletter for the Association of Sound Designers. It’s a landscape A5 format and despite being all about sound is pleasing full of images…

SPAB: Briefing

A while ago we were asked by the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings (SPAB) to design a new supplement to go with SPAB magazine. What we came up with is SPAB Briefing. It is smaller than the A4 magazine (it’s 189mm x 267m) so it sits neatly under the masthead of the magazine when they […]

The Victorian: Tower Bridge

The latest issue of The Victorian (Issue 48) has gone to print. This is the opening spread of the article about the depiction of Tower Bridge in art to coincide with the exhibition at the Guildhall Art Gallery entitled ‘Tower Bridge: A Celebration of 120 Years, 1894–2014’.

Emanative: Lions Of Judah

Before the forthcoming The Light Years Of The Darkness LP release (see below) there was the Lions Of Judah single by emanative for the Steve Reid Foundation. The illustrations for both the single and the LP were done by Gene Pendon and it was a joy to collaborate with him on both jobs.

Sneak preview: emanative

A sneak preview of the forthcoming emanative LP ‘The Light Years Of The Darkness’ (front and back sleeve shown below). The album is coming out on Brownswood recordings for the Steve Reid Foundation. And just in case you haven’t heard about the Foundation before I think it is worth me repeating the About page here: […]

Best Art Vinyl Awards 2014

Big news at Made In Earnest HQ today as our design for the Nostalgia 77 And The Monster LP ‘Measures’ has been nominated for the Best Art Vinyl Awards 2014. As you can see above it is a slightly unusual design with everything on the front cover, but we felt this worked well with the […]

The Horticulturist redesign

The first issue of the redesigned Horticulturist magazine has arrived back from the printers and so far the feedback from the Chartered Institute of Horticulture has been extremely positive, which makes the hard work and long hours all worthwhile.
